ABOUT ME

I'm am an experienced person centred counsellor, I have worked with people who have had a variety of concerns including, anxiety, low self-worth, depression, bereavement, loss, Loneliness, addiction, stress, low self-esteem, problems with life relationships and trauma.
I believe that by offering individuals the ‘right’ conditions they will form a therapeutic relationship and in turn facilitate a positive change within themselves. By attending counselling sessions with me, individuals are encouraged to explore their difficulties within the sessions led and steered by the individual with the counsellor being there to support and facilitate.
I offer a calm, safe, non-judgemental, empathetic, therapeutic service in a confidential space where individuals can explore their thoughts, feelings, and emotions openly, gaining a deeper understanding of themselves and finding their own solution to their issues in the process.

Training and Qualifications

Before I qualified with a BA (Hons) degree in person centred counselling, I had worked for over 25 years in the care industry in mental health, general hospitals, and supported individuals with learning difficulties in the community. I spent 2 years of my training as a volunteer counsellor providing individuals with face to face and online counselling at the Colchester Institute Counselling Service and with Action for Family Carers. Having qualified as a counsellor, I worked as an addiction therapist at a treatment centre providing individual counselling as well as facilitating group therapy.

I feel passionate about helping every individual that I work with through therapy, I continue to develop my thinking and understanding by attending regular training and study days.

I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Person Centred Counselling and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).
